Agriculture

The Wangaratta region has rich soils, consistent rainfall and a temperate climate, making it a highly productive agricultural area.

Along with producing quality beef, lamb, dairy, cereal crops and world-class wines, the region also produces niche products such as hazelnuts, kiwi fruit, walnuts and chestnuts, stone fruit, berries, capsicums, hops, pig and goat meat/products.

The value of these products is around $323 million per annum and the local agricultural, forestry and fishing industry directly employs around 960 people.
